Here at Ewenique Farms we own and operate a commercial flock of 150 OLIBS ewes.

The OLIBS ewe is a high health two breed composite of Polled Dorset and Rideau Arcott.

Our accelerated lambing system is a 3 times in 2 years lambing. Each ewe producing 3 lamb crops in 2 years or 1.5 crops a year.

Lambing takes place in January, April and September. Each lambing lasts 2 weeks. These ewes give an average of 1.97 lambs per lambing and an average of 2.56 lambs a year.

Having lambs born at these times gives us the option of selling lambs all year round, .

OUR RAMS

In November of 2000, John and Eadie Steele had Texel embryos implanted into their OLIBS ewes. They wanted to be able to provide a complete package to commercial buyers - high health ewes and health-matched terminal sires. The Texel compliments the carcass type of the OLIBS ewe and the OLIBS ewe provides the prolificacy and milkiness needed to produce uniform, quality, market lambs. The Steele's current Texel genetics are new bloodlines to North America from New Zealand.
